My limit order didn't fill
Quickest fix
Section titled “Quickest fix”- Open Spot (Trade, then Spot) in Limit mode, and find the order under Open in the Positions panel. If the panel asks for a signature first, choose Show my orders.
- Read To limit: how far the market price must move to reach your limit.
- Look for a tag beside the order, such as reached, unfunded or paused, and hover it for the details.
How an order fills
Section titled “How an order fills”A limit order is a signed instruction, not a deposit: your funds stay in your wallet until the order fills. Taoswap’s executor compares your limit with the subnet pool’s price at every block. When the price reaches your limit, it submits your order, and the chain checks the price, your funds and the expiry again before anything moves. Only Taoswap’s executor can fill your order. See Limit orders.
The price hasn’t reached your limit
Section titled “The price hasn’t reached your limit”A buy and a stop-loss fill when the price falls to their limit or below. A take-profit fills when the price rises to its limit or above. The price that counts is the price in the subnet’s pool on Bittensor, the one the Spot page shows, not a price on another site. To limit says how far away it is.
Your wallet couldn’t cover the order
Section titled “Your wallet couldn’t cover the order”Nothing is set aside when you place an order. When the price reaches your limit, a buy needs its amount in free TAO plus 0.01 τ, and a sell needs its alpha still staked in that position. When the funds are missing, the order is skipped and tried again until it expires. Its tag reads unfunded: “Your wallet can’t cover it right now: it stays out of the book and can fill only if the funds come back to this wallet.”
Put the funds back in this wallet, or cancel the order. Before a swap that would leave your orders short, the swap card warns you: “Keep funds for your pending limit order.”
The price moved back, or the order is too large for the pool
Section titled “The price moved back, or the order is too large for the pool”The reached tag means the market is at your limit. After an attempt that didn’t fill, its tooltip reads “The market is at your limit but the last attempt did not fill: it retries while the price holds.” Two things can cause that:
- The price moved back across your limit before the order landed.
- Filling the order would push the price further past your limit than your slippage tolerance allows. A buy or a take-profit can fill past its limit only by the slippage it signed, taken from Limit slippage tolerance in Swap Settings. A large order in a small pool can need more.
The order keeps trying, less and less often, until it fills, you cancel it or it expires. To get a fill, cancel it and place a smaller order, or one signed with a higher slippage tolerance. A high tolerance lets the order fill further past your limit.
A stop-loss signs no slippage tolerance: once triggered, it sells at the market price, with no floor.
The order expired
Section titled “The order expired”When you place an order, you choose how long it lasts under Expires in (1, 7 or 30 days). Past that, the chain refuses it, the order moves to History as Expired, and Taoswap tells you it expired unfilled. To keep waiting, place a new order.
The order closed on its own
Section titled “The order closed on its own”Taoswap closes an order when what it was signed for no longer exists:
- Its validator swapped hotkeys, and your stake moved with them.
- Your coldkey was swapped. Sign a new order from the new coldkey.
- Its subnet was dissolved.
- A whole-position sell on the same position filled and sold it, which closes your other sells on that position.
While a coldkey swap is pending for your wallet, its orders show paused: the chain refuses them until the swap settles.
You can’t see your orders
Section titled “You can’t see your orders”Taoswap shows your orders only in a browser where you placed an order or signed to see them, and that access lasts a limited time. Elsewhere, the panel says “Sign a message with your wallet to see your orders on this device.” Choose Show my orders and sign. Signing this message is free.
If the bell in the header says your order notifications stopped on this device, sign again on the Spot page to resume them.
An order marked reached stays unfilled
Section titled “An order marked reached stays unfilled”Only Taoswap’s executor fills orders. If it is interrupted, orders wait and your funds stay in your wallet. If an order keeps its reached tag for a long time while your wallet holds the funds, tell us.
What to send when you ask for help
Section titled “What to send when you ask for help”- Your public address.
- The subnet, the side (buy or sell), the limit price and the amount.
- When you placed the order, its status and its tag, with a screenshot of its row.
