My balance looks wrong
Quickest fix
Section titled “Quickest fix”- Check the account. Click your account at the top right and make sure the one you mean is selected.
- Wait a few blocks. Taoswap reads your balances again every few blocks, and a transaction you just made shows at the next read.
- Reload the page.
Where the figures come from
Section titled “Where the figures come from”Your balances come straight from the chain: your free TAO and each of your stakes, read through the node Taoswap is connected to. Subnet prices come from each subnet’s pool on chain, read again every few blocks. Dollar values use TAO’s market price from CoinGecko. History, profit and loss (P&L) and rank come from Taoswap’s own records of the chain, each refreshed on its own schedule: the realized 24-hour P&L, for example, updates once a day.
You’re looking at another account
Section titled “You’re looking at another account”- Your wallet may share several accounts. The Portfolio shows the one selected in the menu at the top right, any address you paste, or a group that adds several addresses together (My wallets, Watching).
- One seed phrase holds many accounts. The standard address is the one btcli, Talisman and other wallets show for that phrase, and accounts with a derivation path (such as
//0) are separate addresses. When you import a seed phrase into the built-in wallet, the list shows each account’s balance: pick the ones that hold your funds. You can add more later with Add Account.
A transaction just landed
Section titled “A transaction just landed”Taoswap reads your balances again every few blocks while your wallet is connected, so a new transaction shows a little after it lands. A swap sent with MEV Shield can take a little longer than a plain one. A limit order that fills moves your funds at that moment, since nothing was set aside when you placed it.
If the transaction itself looks missing, see My transaction failed or is stuck.
Alpha is valued at the pool’s current price
Section titled “Alpha is valued at the pool’s current price”Total Balance values your alpha at each pool’s current price. Selling moves that price against you, so a sale pays less than this figure, all the more for a large position in a small pool. When the gap is large, At exit under the total shows what selling every position now would pay after slippage. Per position, the holdings table’s TAO AMM column shows the same, once you turn it on in Customize.
Pool prices change with every trade, so the value of your alpha moves even when you do nothing.
Claimable rewards are included
Section titled “Claimable rewards are included”If you stake on root, Total Balance includes the staking rewards you can claim but haven’t claimed yet, and says how much. They reach your wallet when you claim them with Claim your staking rewards.
Part of your alpha is locked
Section titled “Part of your alpha is locked”Alpha locked for conviction stays staked and counts in your balance, but you can’t swap or unstake it while it is locked. A decaying lock frees it over time, a perpetual lock never does. The holdings table marks it with a lock icon and the amount locked.
Dollar values differ from another site
Section titled “Dollar values differ from another site”Taoswap reads TAO’s dollar price from CoinGecko every minute. If your browser can’t reach CoinGecko, because of an ad blocker or a company network for example, Taoswap uses a copy kept by its own servers, which can be a little older. Other sites use other price sources, so dollar figures rarely match exactly.
The balance change includes transfers
Section titled “The balance change includes transfers”Balance change, transfers included counts your deposits and withdrawals: TAO you receive reads as a gain, TAO you send as a loss. To judge how your positions performed, read the P&L instead.
Another app shows a different total
Section titled “Another app shows a different total”Another wallet or explorer may count only your free TAO, leave out your stakes, or price alpha another way. Compare like with like: free TAO with Available, stake on root with Staked to root, and alpha with Alpha Staked.
Taoswap is connected to testnet
Section titled “Taoswap is connected to testnet”If you picked Test Finney on Network status, Taoswap reads Bittensor’s test network, where your balances are different. Click one of the Finney endpoints to return to the main network.
The chain doesn’t answer
Section titled “The chain doesn’t answer”When the node doesn’t answer, balances cannot load and Taoswap says “The chain RPC may be temporarily unavailable.” Wait a moment, or switch to another endpoint on Network status.
Amounts show as dots
Section titled “Amounts show as dots”You hid them. Click the eye icon on your Portfolio (Show amounts).
What to send when you ask for help
Section titled “What to send when you ask for help”- The address, and the figure that looks wrong with the page it is on (for example Total Balance on your Portfolio).
- The figure you expected, and where it comes from: another app, a past screenshot, a transaction.
- A screenshot, and when you took it.
Never send your seed phrase or your wallet password. Then contact support.
